Grand Opening!

Posted January 6th, 2006 by Team Access

After doing some grading, testing out the site’s systems, and making a few tweaks and adjustments, we’ve decided to do an official public launch of the site. This means that instead of just mentioning this project to a select group of people — folks that were kind enough to look over our collective shoulder to make sure we’re being good — we’re ready to tell the world. No doubt we’ll be continually improving the checklist and adding features, tools, and resources to this site, but for the most part we’re good to go.

We have learned some things already in grading sites. One thing we learned is that while the Checklist makes things easier and gets us all on the same page as far as what we’re looking for, it can still and will be improved over time to remove even more of the subjective aspects of grading. For the time being, though, we are taking roughly .25 to .75 points from a starting score of 6.0 for each item that fails to cut it within each checklist item. It seems to work. Of all the worksheets that have been submitted by the Team Access members, the grading similarities have been remarkable. In other words, it seems that it really works.

Before ending this post, we want to remind you that this is not an easy-street come-get-your-free-award site. This is going to be tough. We don’t want to make anyone upset or bruise any egos, but to get a top-level award from our team, your site is going to have to go way above and beyond. Smokin’ hot! So let’s put this in perspective before someone thinks things are unfair. If your site is not rejected and is deemed eligible for grading, it is already an excellent site. Feel good about yourself as you’ve done very well. And if you do get an award, then your site is beyond excellent. We just want to clarify this as Accessites is taking the essence of web site awards to a completely different level.
