Public Thanks: Part II
We get by with a little help from our friends! This is how we feel right now. Thus we felt it was high time for another round of thanks. Sure we get some people who can do nothing more than to write to complain, to shed focus on some minute flaw and tell us how we blew it. But those folks are few and far between. Others — most — have been very supportive. We’re glad because we don’t get paid and this project has proven to be a major undertaking. Each award given represents roughly 8 to 12 man-hours of hard work!
So, who’s been extra nice? Well, besides Thierry Koblentz and Gez Lemon, as we mentioned last time but who’re still lending us a hand now and then, we would also like to thank Kim Kruse for sticking by us through thick and thin, the Guild of Accessible Web Designers, GAWDS, for running a great press release and giving us their support, the Accessify organization for running a mirror of our press release and also giving us their friendship, our very own Patrick H. Lauke for hooking us up with a snazzy new listservice for our internal communications, Mike Pepper — who you’ll be hearing more from soon –for posting a nice tribute, and, last but not least, our site visitors, especially those who submit sites, give us detailed and helpful comments, their insights about what we do, our grading system, and ways to improve. Thank you one and all.
But we’re not done yet (we lied about the “last but not least” part), there’s more: We contacted Browsercam in hopes of scoring a free account in exchange for some promotion. Well, they said “no.” But not in a mean way, we’re still new and we were asking for a pretty big handout. If the tables were turned, we would have turned us down too. But Browsercam didn’t end it with that. They pointed us to a then-active campaign at Fundable.org where we were able to secure a full-function Browsercam account, including remote access, for an obscenely small amount of money — with special thanks to our very own Dan “The Man” Champion for coming up with the cash. Browsercam didn’t have to go this extra mile to help us out by pointing us to a solution, but they did and we appreciate that.
Yep. There is no doubt about it: We get by with a little help from our friends… so thanks!
