Tyssen Design (2) site The Tyssen Design (2) site is, for lack of a better term, hot. It’s very contemporary in its design and many of its features are inline with what we see on the web nowadays. This is a re-design/re-submission and although the original design submission was nice, this one’s a lot nicer. As is normal, we found a few things which brought the score down, but it is our job.

Little Blue Plane

Little Blue Plane site The Little Blue Plane site is exactly the type of site we’re looking for. Clean, beautiful, usable, accessible, and built with an exemplary level of care and attention to detail. Sites like this prove and support the mission here at Accessites. We found a little something that reduced its level of accessibility — soon to be fixed we hope — but despite that, there is so much going for this site that it’s still earning this award (the second “Classic” we’ve given).

Ten Reasons

If you’re a web developer, at some point a client is going to request from you some whiz-bang feature that simply defies accessibility. If you care you’ll try to explain why it isn’t such a good idea. But clients can insist, as they have a right to do since they’re the ones paying for your time. At which point it will be decision time. If you really care you’ll likely end up footing the bill for the extra time it’ll take you to make said whiz-bang feature somehow accessible so the client can have his or her delightful new toy and you don’t have to compromise your standards and ethics delivering it. You’ll do it because you’re one of the “Whitehatistas,” one of the good guys, because producing something inaccessible just isn’t something you do.
