Agentur 52eins
The Agentur 52eins site is quite the website. It immediately grabbed our attention with its good looks and sharp graphics, which are surprisingly reasonable in file size. This site is one of those which defines the stunning part of what we look for, yet it maintains a very high level of accessibility and user-friendliness. It seems to have a fairly complex layout, but lacks in its underlying functional complexity. We felt it could go to greater heights in this regard, but these things are always a trade off. Had it done so, and not shown us a few other things we didn’t care for, this site could have done even better. That said, though, the numbers added up in its favor and it scored very well indeed. Another “Classic” site for our showcase. Again, we must say, in its design and balance with consideration to its users’ needs: Very nice!

BioDesign
The BioDesign web site is pretty unique and we gave credit for that. Most sites nowadays are either centered or fluidly fill the screen. Seeing a site positioned to the left of the viewport is the exception and it brings back memories of yesterday’s internet. This site’s maker hasn’t forgotten those days and even accommodates the old 640×480 monitor resolution. Being that it’s a fixed width site, some people won’t like that aspect as they’ll be seeing a whole lotta blue, but it’s probably better going skinny when fixing a width, just to be considerate of more users (side scrolling’s no fun). But don’t get us wrong, this is a modern design built to standards and made accessible. We did note a few things that we didn’t care for, and it may need a few touch-ups, but we expect this in nearly any site.

It’s Time To Kill Off Transitional DOCTYPES
One of the Accessites Criteria we insist upon for sites we judge is that they must have a Strict DOCTYPE. Some people have queried why we insist on this. One answer would be “it’s our site, it’s our rules.” That’s not a very satisfactory answer though. So why should you use a strict DOCTYPE? Well, we have four reasons.

Stergios-k.com
The Stergios-k.com web site exemplifies beauty in function, and that’s this site’s biggest attribute. It goes to the heart by immediately stating its purpose. It quickly answers most of those well-known news questions: The who, what, when, where and why. Even the imagery gets right to the point: It doesn’t waste bandwidth on decoration that doesn’t serve a purpose — even though decoration’s not a bad thing. The Greek Islands are stunning, but stunning is not what’s being conveyed here: Instead it immediately speaks of the web and print services available from its maker. It uses muted tones and convenient accessibility so as to not interfere with its primary message.
