General and Cosmetic Dentistry site The General and Cosmetic Dentistry site is a clean and mostly well-executed site. The value of information and easy navigation were a big plus, but there were also some oversights that didn’t make us smile our gleaming whites. There was also a serious drawback with two instances of unsupported JavaScript. We tried to look past that and viewed the overall effort and thus made a gift of one point. In our correspondence we will strongly encourage this be addressed right away so the award is better earned. All-in-all we liked the site but we do feel some flossing and a good brushing are needed.

Accessites Feeds Fixed!

Accessites RSS Feed Many of our site visitors have commented that our Really Simple Syndication, RSS, feeds were broken. The problem was our XML output had no proper “Link” element. This is no longer the case and the feeds have been fixed. Thus, if you want to subscribe and not only get article and showcase updates, but to also get a proper link back to the posted items, now you can. We apologize for the inconvenience this oversight has caused in the past.

How Useful are Accessibility Evaluation Tools?

Accessibility has as much to do with usability than being purely technically correct. The site needs to have clear navigation, the ability to skip content areas, offer alternative layouts and be written in an easily understood style by the anticipated audience. Can an expensive evaluation tool be justified and are site-wide checks using such a tool actually required (rather than just for a “feel good” factor of control over the situation) post-production?

CheckEngine USA

CheckEngine USA site The CheckEngine USA web site, some will say, isn’t “stunning,” but that word describes what we want to see. But this site, and some may think this is funny, has a great personality. Meaning it has a real inner beauty. Is it perfect in that regard? Well, no, but it was obviously made by someone who has a firm grasp of accessibility and usability. It’s a very easy-to-use site with an intuitiveness that the two graders assigned to it really appreciated. It’s a working site that fulfills its purpose very well. That’s why it’s here. Not for its immaculate paint job, but for what’s under the hood to use the most fitting analogy based on the site’s thematic.
