3.7 Designs site The 3.7 Designs web site immediately impressed us. It’s a great-looking site and it’s accessible. Removing the style sheet showed us a nicely structured build. Digging deeper, though, did uncover some accessibility oversights and potential problems that caused a little confusion — but that is what we do. We noted a considerable amount of scripting, much of which we felt was unnecessary and possibly not to the benefit of the site. To the credit of site’s builder, though, removing the script didn’t hamper the site one bit. If anything it seemed to enhance it. Some visual effects no longer functioned but things seemed to smooth out a bit. All-in-all we like this site, especially the awesome crest displayed on the “Web Design” page; it’s a badge of honor if we ever saw one.

Going Mobile: Development and Preparation

We’ve talked about the two “camps” of accessibility: accessibility for everyone (Camp 1) and accessibility for the disabled (Camp 2). One question which tends to be a significant element in this discussion is about user agents. When you’re targeting screen readers you’re addressing issues which fit easily into both schools of thought. If you’re planning on making your website usable with a handheld browsing device, well, you may be overshooting the mark for Camp 2. Nonetheless, there are a number of issues related to mobile development which are important for both sides of the discussion.
