With your permission you might earn two awards for the price of one.
Effective immediately, the crew here at Accessites have on a limited basis joined forces with the Guild of Accessible Web Designers (GAWDS) to develop a replacement for the now defunct Site-of-the-Month (SOTM) program. GAWDS members felt the quality level of sites being presented with the SOTM honor could be better. As a result an idea was hatched by both groups to use the Accessites’ submission criteria for GAWDS’ award consideration — which will be now be called the “GAWDS Web Accessibility Award” (and will be awarded quarterly, to initiate sometime in the 4th quarter of 2007). Moreover, it was decided that Accessites should actually make the nominations from our pool of awardees. We are now gatekeepers.
There will be no more member voting for the GAWDS award — the polling software will be used in a whole new way, details coming. Nominees will be decided by Team Access members and from the two to four nominees we will provide quarterly, the GAWDS administrators will select the final winner. The result should be an amazing site being awarded by GAWDS four times a year.
We need to hear from people who have earned an award level of Quality or higher here as we want your permission to forward your information to GAWDS for consideration there. Just think, with your permission you might earn two awards for the price of one. If you are okay with doing this, please post a comment below stating as much. If you do not give permission, you will not be considered.
In the future, all submissions made will eligible to be forwarded to GAWDS, but on our form you will be given the opportunity to opt out if for some reason you wish not to be considered.
Comments, questions… permission from past winners. Please make them known below. Interested in being considered for a GAWDS award, submit your site to us today! Want more info, do check out this sister post at GAWDS.
