Creative Access
The Creative Access site has a lot to offer visitors as a solid, easily navigable web site. The site is equally effective in all browsers tested, so it looks like a lot of thought went into the testing process. The site looks almost exactly normal with images disabled, since regions with images have been provided with sensible and equivalent background colors.
There are no dependencies on client-side scripting to get in anyone’s way. Creative Access is a conscientious and carefully constructed site.
Of course, we did find a few things that we didn’t like as much as we might have hoped. There’s a notable negligence to provide abbreviation expansions, and the keyboard navigation left a lot to be desired, especially once you got into the rather cluttered cluster of links in the footer.
In general, the heading structure fell short, sometimes implying that sidebar content is a child of the page content, and notably missing an h1 level heading.
Overall, the site makes use of a simple design that appears to be strong yet flexible. Although it does not, as yet, have the kind of striking visuals that we particularly like, it does represent a good foundation which can be extended and developed into something special.
