We’ll Miss You, Jack

Posted January 18th, 2010 by Mel Pedley

We were both shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death of Jack Pickard at the weekend.

Jack was a part of Accessites.org from its earliest days and, although he had taken a back seat from active Team Access duty more recently, he was still there, in the background, ready to lend a hand if needed.

We’ve lost a great colleague with a wicked sense of humour and the Web has lost a talented developer. Our thoughts and sympathies go out to his family.

I had seen a reference made to the death of someone by the same name yesterday in my web wandering. I was hoping it was not the same Jack that I came to know through this site. I am saddened to learn that it was.

My sympathy to Jack’s family and friends.

I’m at a loss for words. My sincere condolences to the family.

If there’s any comfort from this, it’s that Jack was instrumental with leading me on the path to accessibility. I’m eternally grateful for the things he taught me over those first years. I’ll continue to use and reference the many things that he helped me out with. Such a good guy.

    RIP Jack.

I met Jack at his WCAG 2.0 seminar in November 2009. I am shocked and saddened to hear of his passing and was most grateful for the tuition and inspiration he provided that day.

    Rest in peace Jack.
