Accessites Feeds Fixed!
Many of our site visitors have commented that our Really Simple Syndication, RSS, feeds were broken. The problem was our XML output had no proper “Link” element. This is no longer the case and the feeds have been fixed. Thus, if you want to subscribe and not only get article and showcase updates, but to also get a proper link back to the posted items, now you can. We apologize for the inconvenience this oversight has caused in the past.

Grading is Work
Some people wonder how we grade sites. Obviously we use our Checklist, and it helps a lot by giving us step-by-step direction, but the process is quite involved. It’s actually more difficult than any of us had ever envisioned when we first launched this project. It involves many hours of work. Of course we knew some of this going into it, though new challenges we didn’t anticipate have presented themselves. Thus we want to better explain the process and describe the new obstacles in hopes that you can help.

Inside the Mind of a Grader
I became an Accessites Team Access grader the start of January this year, the “Green-Beast” himself, Mike Cherim, announced the arrival of Accessites.org as a showcase to honour great looking sites that are accessible, usable and standards-compliant. I thought this sounded quite interesting so I went to have a look. After a quick poke around the site I realised that I agreed with pretty much all of their aims so I contacted them and volunteered to join.

Public Thanks: Part II
We get by with a little help from our friends! This is how we feel right now. Thus we felt it was high time for another round of thanks. Sure we get some people who can do nothing more than to write to complain, to shed focus on some minute flaw and tell us how we blew it. But those folks are few and far between. Others — most — have been very supportive. We’re glad because we don’t get paid and this project has proven to be a major undertaking. Each award given represents roughly 8 to 12 man-hours of hard work!
