GeekMinistry
The GeekMinistry site is a nice stylish site with a real retro groove about it. Swirly and funky; hip and cool. In addition to visual styles, we liked some of the security features as they didn’t diminish the site’s functionality. Over all it’s a pretty solid site. We did note a few things that could have been done better, though. As one example, there is text on the footer that screams “click me, I’m a link” but this text is in fact just text. There are a few other small things we’d like to see done better being that the site was made by a standards-savvy developer. That said, though, it’s a good design that should serve its purpose rather well and be accessible to the vast majority of its visitors.

I-cre8
The I-Cre8 web site is another simple-but-effect site that gets the job done. We find small, simple sites especially challenging to grade. Meeting too many of the “requirements” may be seen as overkill by users whereas not meeting these “requirements” will leave some users behind. We like the design of this site but did see some simple steps could have been taken to kick it up a notch, so to speak. These steps were taken in the area of legal information so it stands to reason certain steps would have been reasonable in the area of accessibility as well. All in all, though, it is a good site that deserves recognition here.

Islamic Culture Foundation
The Islamic Culture Foundation site is an instantly striking site. Seriously, it’s got its groove on for sure. Most sites like this are so design oriented they seriously lack in most other areas. Not this site, though. This site is actually pretty good. It could be more accessible for sure, but we like the attempt. It does have flaws: The graders thought it was functionally quite simple using WordPress and a few plugins. It was also thought of as perhaps a bit over the top considering its more serious subject matter. “Akin to a designer’s blog,” one grader noted.

Pannasmontata Templates
The Pannasmontata Templates site is bilingual offering its content in both English and Italian. That immediately impressed us. We also liked the looks of the site with its four top-boxes — it seems to draw in the audience well. But with the good we always find some things that drag it down. In this case it’s Google’s generated deprecated mark-up but we don’t know a way around this. We also noted a number of other issues that concerned us. All-in-all there is a good level of effort that went into the site and it really excelled in many areas. It’s pointing in the right direction, but it’s journey isn’t complete.
