Why Web Accessibility Makes Sense » Page 4 of 9

Be Recognized

If you’ve created or own an accessible web site, promote the fact. You’re doing the right thing and deserve recognition for being so accommodating. If you have a retail outlet and have made provisions for the disabled not required by law, you are doing more than you have to and it should be known. The same is true on the web.

Being recognized may carry additional benefits. If it’s known that your site is easy to use, easy to navigate, and respectful of the needs of your visitors, you may see an increase in the number of visitors you’ll attract. This is usually a good thing.

Additional benefits may be derived by attracting users you might not ordinarily see. It is possible to break into new markets previously out of grasp. There are economic and marketing benefits associated with an accessible web site.
