For years, mandates for accommodating the disabled have entered the law books. This is also applicable on the web. It may not be the law in your country right now, but you can bet that it will be someday. Be prepared.

Acting proactively can keep you ahead of the law. It can also make your business look good. Instead of being forced to comply, doing it on your own says good things about you and your company. If you’re a developer, you may end up saving your client money and keep them from dealing with the aches and pains of compliance in the future.

Being sued for not having an accessible web site can be costly and embarrassing. Acting before you have to can save you from experiencing this. This has happened and firms have been sued. If you’re smart you won’t let it come to that.
